On the Fort Peck Indian Reservation in NE Montana, the youth have little to no activities to keep them busy. Our playgrounds are in horrid disrepair, overgrown with weeds, littered with trash, and have broken or missing equipment. Our community basketball courts are falling apart, without nets, broken backboards, rough pavement, etc. And unfortunately, our Tribal and Local Governments don't have the federal and state funding to fix these issues. The sad result, is many of our youth resort to Alcohol and Drug abuse. This is one of our Capital Projects, which we are seeking major funding along with regular donations from people just like you. Can you help us? A youth recreation center will give our youth a safe place to go and socialize and recreate. Please help us!
The Fort Peck Indian Reservation in NE Montana is home to the Assiniboine and Sioux Tribes. The unfortunate truth is we have a very high number of individuals with no permanent residence. We estimate there to be around over a hundred people that wander the streets and alleys looking for their next place to sleep. In Montana, winters can produce days well below Zero, and we have lost lives in the past because of this.
We are constantly fundraising so we can build or reopen a homeless shelter here. Several years ago, we had two. But due to lack of funding and no paid staff, both were closed leaving many out in the cold once again. Please help us achieve a long term solution for our less fortunate community members.
